Honing oils

Honing oil is good to use on oil-type sharpening stones. They are applied to stones to protect them, remove dirt, and sharpen tools more effectively. Just a few drops of oil on the stone are enough to start sharpening immediately. Oils are not suitable for water and diamond whetstones.

Honing oils contain highly refined mineral oil, which does not harden or turn yellow. Mineral oil also has no unpleasant odors or harmful fumes, making it extremely safe to work with. At first, you may be tempted to use the classic vegetable oil that you usually have in your kitchen. However, we strongly recommend that you resist this alternative, because using the right oil will not only make sharpening easier, but will also significantly extend the life of your stones.
