Convex Grind Knives
As the name suggests, this is a grind with a convex (outwardly curved) edge, which is the opposite of a hollow grind. The idea behind this grind is to retain as much material as possible behind the edge while maintaining the effectiveness of the cutting edge. Again, this is a compromise between various properties, but it must be said that this type of grind is very good for rough wood processing. For this reason, we often find it on higher-quality axes or knives that are expected to be used for heavy-duty work.
