Knives AUS-10 steel
Knives with AUS-10 Steel. AUS-10 steel (sometimes referred to as AUS-10A, 10A, or A10) is a Japanese high-carbon stainless steel. It is manufactured at the Aichi Steel Corporation in the Japanese city of Tokai.
It is a great all-purpose steel, characterized by an excellent balance between hardness, toughness, and corrosion resistance. It is one of the best mid-range steels with a great price-to-quality ratio. With proper heat treatment, it can rival many premium steels from a much higher price bracket.
It typically reaches a hardness of 58–61 HRC. Compared to other stainless steels of similar hardness, it is easy to sharpen and achieves high sharpness. Edge retention is also at a high level, comparable to 440C steel. Thanks to its toughness, it is not prone to chipping.
Steel composition: 0.95%–1.1% carbon, 13%–14.5% chromium, 1% silicon, 0.5% manganese, 0.5% nickel, 0.3% molybdenum, 0.2% vanadium, 0.04% phosphorus, 0.03% sulfur.
