Knives Elmax steel
Knives with Elmax Steel. Elmax is a top-tier stainless steel developed by Böhler-Uddeholm in Sweden. It is a high-carbon, high-chromium, vanadium-molybdenum steel manufactured using powder metallurgy technology, which gives it a fine and uniform microstructure.
The balance of elements contributes to the exceptional equilibrium of Elmax's properties: high hardness, excellent wear resistance, outstanding corrosion resistance, and an excellent ability to maintain an edge even with long-term use. All this is complemented by relatively high toughness—the blades are resistant to chipping or breaking during normal use.
Thanks to its properties, it is often used for folding knives, survival knives, and hunting knives. It is also suitable for tactical knives and rescue tools, where performance in extreme conditions is critical. The combination of toughness, wear resistance, and edge retention ensures that Elmax knives will perform when needed most. It achieves a hardness of approximately 60–62 HRC.
Steel composition: 1.7% carbon, 18% chromium, 3% vanadium, 1% molybdenum, 0.8% silicon, 0.3% manganese.
