Butterfly knives

Butterfly knives, or balisongs, are a type of folding knife. They are easily recognized by their opening mechanism. The handle is divided into two parts that, when unlocked, rotate away from each other to a 180° angle. In doing so, they expose the blade itself. Subsequently, both handle parts are locked again. Butterfly knives are often also found under the name balisong. The term originates from the Philippines, specifically the province of Batangas, where this type of knife was born. Manipulating a butterfly knife requires practice and skill. Therefore, it is also known and popular due to "flipping". This is a very fast and complex trick in which the knife is quickly opened and closed. Training knives with blunt blades also exist for safety when practicing flipping. The name balisong actually originated from the combination of the words Batangas and flipping. If you want to improve your art of flipping, it is recommended that you secure a blunt training knife. Your fingers will thank you.

Accessories and Knife Care

Subsequent care is an important part of working with knives. Every knife should be sufficiently sharp to fulfill its basic function. To ensure your knife remains functional for longer, regular maintenance is essential.
