Folding Knives with Bar Lock (Axis)
Folding knife with a Bar Lock (Axis) mechanism. This system uses a transverse "bar" that, under spring tension, engages the tang (heel) of the blade and locks it. It is released by pulling the bar towards the user. This lock is also known as a crossbar lock. The name Axis is exclusively used by the company Benchmade, which holds the patent for this system on their knives.
