Throwing knives

Throwing knives and throwing stars are designed for hitting a target. The blade of throwing knives is usually made of softer stainless steel that is resistant to impacts. Since they are intended for throwing, the blade's properties are adapted accordingly. It must withstand impact and therefore does not need to be sharp for cutting at all. Throwing knives are constructed to rotate in the air when thrown. They are perfectly balanced.

Throwing stars, or shurikens, are traditional Japanese throwing knives in the shape of a star. They are currently used in various martial arts. Interestingly, shurikens were originally intended only to have a psychological effect by distracting and intimidating the opponent.
